Professor Dr. Sabine Koch

Health Informatics

Professor Sabine Koch is the Strategic Professor of Health Informatics and the Director of the Health Informatics Centre at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.

Professor Dr. Sabine Koch holds both a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. degree in Medical Informatics from Ruprecht-Karls University Heidelberg, Germany.

Professor Dr. Sabine Koch has been working in Health Informatics for more than 30 years and has a broad interest in health informatics including models for collaborative care, human factors/usability, evaluation of information systems, consumer informatics as well as evidence-based decision support and information visualization for enhanced decision making. Sabine strives for combining structure with flexibility and technology design with healthcare and consumer needs aiming to enhance health service delivery and population health globally.

As former Director of Education for the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics, and former Programme Director of the Global Master’s Programme in Health Informatics, she is very engaged in education activities and enjoys teaching and learning together with students with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.

Professor Dr. Sabine Koch is the Past President of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), Editor-in-Chief of Methods of Information in Medicine, and member of the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Medical Informatics and Applied Clinical Informatics. She is an elected Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) as well as a Founding Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI).
